( FOUR. ) - backdated tournament log, round two.

Oct 06, 2010 20:36

[ There was only one reason that Hibari signed up for this tournament in the first place - "to fight strong people." There were, he'd learned, plenty of people in Mayfield worth his time and effort, and he expected his opponent this time to be no less qualified than the last ( Read more... )

[Dias shows up right on time, his hair still extremely short in the aftermath of the party. It's still bothering him, somewhere in the back of his mind, but he's firmly pushed that aside in favor of his next match.

He isn't expecting his opponent to be in the stands at all; while he does spot Hibari, he chalks the man up as a spectator who's merely arrived early. With no one making themselves immediately evident, he opts to spend his waiting time warming up, drawing his sword and beginning his self-taught kata.]

[ He watches for a while, observing the other's swordplay -- it's unlike any he's seen before. Though, he isn't counting on it to help him much; actual fighting is different from training, after all.

After a few minutes, he approaches, tonfa in hand. ]

... You're my opponent?

[Dias finishes his current movement before straightening and sheathing his sword; he fights from the draw anyway, so there's no need to keep it out, even if his opponent has materialized.] Guess so. [He sizes up the tonfa. A double threat, but of shorter range than a sword, and bludgeoning weapons at that; harder to cause serious injury unless the user is proficient and accurate with them. Depending on how sturdy they are, Dias isn't even sure how they'll hold up to a sword, although he's not about to underestimate Hibari so quickly.

Still, he's gratified to see actual weapons. After the ridiculously unbalanced match that was his first round, he's hoping that the presence of physical weapons indicates a more straightforward fight.]

Dias Flac. [He gives the boy a slight nod.]

[ He responds with his own short nod. ] Hibari Kyouya.

[ And that's all the introduction he requires. Immediately he dives into an attack, feinting for a direct blow before shifting slightly at the last second to aim a blow at Dias's left arm. ]

[Dias reacts quickly, however; anyone who strikes from a position of their sword still being sheathed has to. He shifts backwards even as his hand flashes to the hilt of his sword and begins to draw it; he draws from the left, so he's able to angle the blade between himself and Hibari in response to both the feint and the actual attack that follows.]

[ His tonfa meets the blade of Dias's sword; in response he moves into his next attack swiftly, trying to take advantage of the relative motility of his weapons. It's aimed this time at Dias's face -- but he leaves his right exposed as he swings forward. ]

Rrrgh sorry for slow response, I'm sometimes lost for how to handle fight scenes the_bloody_road October 12 2010, 08:13:00 UTC
[Dias quickly realizes that Hibari is exceedingly skilled with his weapons; worse, his tonfa outnumber Dias' sword two to one. With his sword only able to be in one place at a time, this is a serious problem.

However, he's improvised before.

He's not able to move his sword to block the tonfa on its path to his face in time; instead, he blocks with his left arm, gritting his teeth at the weight of the blow. He doesn't think the arm is fractured, but he definitely can't just accept too many blows like that or something will give ( ... )

no problem! c: kuichigiru October 14 2010, 01:48:49 UTC
[ He dodges, but not quite fast enough -- the blade just catches him on his side, though he manages to avoid any serious injury.

He backs off for the time being, keeping himself few paces out of Dias's sword's reach. He doesn't like playing the defensive, but he knows that there are people in Mayfield with powers that he is unfamiliar with: better to play it safe for the time being. Besides that, he also needs to take a few moments to try and staunch the bleeding somewhat. ]

[As soon as Hibari backs off, Dias backs up a few steps himself, even as he unfastens his scabbard from his belt takes it in his free hand. It doesn't have a comfortable grip like a sword, so it'll be harder to hold onto, but between it and his sword, he should be able to counter any two-pronged attacks Hibari launches more easily.

His arm is going to ache like hell later, he can already tell, but adrenaline is helping him to ignore it for the moment.]
