They told me that they would hire me for the Gala. About a month and a half out I e-mailed my boss (the one who requested me for the first event and said that she would hire me for the gala), and the Events coordinator (who sits an office away from me ~20 feet) asking if I was still in the running or if they had hired someone else. I never got a response. When I asked point-blank if they had hired someone else about two weeks before the Gala I was told that they went with a professional.
I was irritated that they hadn't kept their word, yes I would've been upset, but I would've understood. What pissed me off was that I asked a month prior and was told absolutely nothing. Then I saw the photos...
Looking at the guy's website, he had some good quality stuff, I don't blame them for hiring him (Again, I was more upset at not being told anything.) Looking at the photos that got posted afterwards, I was livid. I don't know if he had a bad day, if his equipment malfunctioned or what, but they were not "Gala Quality" Photos. I also heard from some of our constituents that had attended the Gala, that he was rude and did not respect people when they asked not to be photographed.
