Mezarashi na~...
When Gaara and I were coming back from our forgettable mission, I duuno if it was something I said... maybe when I was moaning and groaning about not being able to get out of bed in the morning because Temari wasn't around to shout 'get up you lazy bastard!' lately, or maybe when I complained about the house seeming so empty. Or maybe when I was bitching about not having sat down to dinner all three of us in such a long time...
I can't quite figure out why, but Gaara offered to eat out.
He says 'i'm hungry. let's get something to eat.' Just like that. Plain and simple as if it were totally normal for him to say. I tried not to fall over and agreed of course. Whaddam I gonna do? Say no? You ever say no to Gaara before? Didn't think so.
We didn't talk much. Ordered. The waitress looked nervous, but nothing innapropriate happened.
Gaara never does anything social like that at all. I mean, we didn't go to a well-lit popular spot, mind you. Just a back-alley sort of food-stand thing you see in the inner-city. They had these amazing cumin chicken kabobs, holy crap. So good. I think I ate 3 pounds of them.
Anyway. Food was good [kabobs!] and inexpensive. I took a take-out menu with me when we left.
As we're leaving, Gaara picks up his gourd [the waitress flinches, he didn't notice, thank Kami] and says 'temari should be back soon.'
I just nod and go 'Mm' in agreement. But I figured, that must be it. He misses her too. In his own, really really subtle way.
Damn. Those kabobs were good. *ogles take-out menu*
