femslash50 Ginny did a series of lazy circles across the sky, the wind rushing through her hair. She stopped abruptly and did a one eighty, soaring back across the pitch. Who needed a Hogsmeade weekend when one could spend an entire day flying around the pitch without having to look out for other flyers. She took a deep breath and spiraled down towards the ground, stopping with inches to spare. Grinning like a loon, she laughed and pushed her goggles up into her wildly tangled hair. It was going to be a bitch to brush out, but flying was meant to be a freeing experience. It wouldn’t have been as wonderful if she wouldn’t feel the cool wind in her hair.
She heard a girly squeal from behind her and then excited clapping. Ginny turned around and saw Kaylee running across the grass towards her. Why wasn’t the Hufflepuff at Hogsmeade with the rest of their classmates? She frowned a bit, but it quickly melted into a grin when she saw the smile plastered across Kaylee’s face. “That was so shiny, Gin!” Kaylee cried out. She swooped down upon her friend and gathered her into a huge hug. “Seriously, you’re one of the best flyers I know. Even Wash can’t handle the turns like you can. You’re down right spectacular!” Kaylee broke off in a fit of giggles, her arms still wrapped around Ginny.
“Thanks,” Ginny said, “I doubt I’m that good, but I appreciate the ego boost.” She took a moment to study her friend. Kaylee was slightly out of breath and her cheeks were flushed and pink. Her hair was twisted into two messy buns on the top of her head, and she looked entirely too adorable.
“Ego boost my ass!” Kaylee squealed, “You’re brilliant! That’s was the shiniest bit of flying I’ve seen in a long time. I love watching you move.” She blushed, deepening the pink in her cheeks. Kaylee hurried to drop her arms and take a step back. Confused, Ginny just stared at her, frowning a bit.
Without thinking, Ginny took a step forward and caught Kaylee in another hug. She pressed her lips gently against the side of Kaylee’s cheek, surprised when her friend gasped and turned her head. Their lips met in an awkward kiss, each girl catching her fair share of teeth and chin as well. Kaylee giggled into the kiss and reached up, weaving her fingers in Ginny’s windswept hair. She moved her mouth against Ginny’s, her tongue darting out to sneak a taste of pumpkin juice and Ginny.
“Shiny,” Kaylee whispered against Ginny’s lips. She rested her forehead against the other girls and closed her eyes.
“Yeah,” Ginny said with a grin, “Pretty damn shiny.” She took Kaylee’s hand and laced their fingers together. With her broom in her other hand, Ginny led them towards the castle. She squeezed Kaylee’s hand and grinned at her, glad she wasn’t the only one who decided to skip out on the afternoon in Hogsmeade.
