TV in Review: My attempt to get some coherent thoughts out on a few shows before the new season starts and I have way too many other new episodes to deal with.
Bones
What an epic couple show. Booth/Bones reminds me of old school Mulder/Scully or Sydney/Vaughn. It's the defining relationship for the series lead(s). Good news - they have the most fantastic chemistry. David and Emily are hilariously adorable in offscreen interviews and such and that definitely translates on camera. Beyond that, a series with a relationship like this can sometimes stumble through a few weak episodes plotwise better than other shows. Just throw in a few sweet USTy moments and you satisfy enough of the fanbase for them to gloss over other flaws. Bad news - if it dies, or they screw it up, the show is over. Maybe not officially, but in every way that counts.
Overall verdict: I'm afraid I may look back someday upon these seasons and remember them as "back when Bones was good". I know I do that with Alias and X-Files. Prove me wrong TPTB.

Burn Notice
Fiona's wardobe may just be the hottest on TV. Seriously, whoever dresses her may be a little unrealistic, but they're very good at find beautiful beautiful clothing. I never really felt the whole Michael/Fiona thing throughout the season, but the finale and their little moment in front of the car was lovely. I like seeing Michael need people in a way that isn't just for backup or contacts. It's a nice change of pace.
Overall verdict: Hot show. Will miss it until next summer.

Eureka
One of the many thinks I adore about Eureka is the fact that it doesn't need a 'ship to survive. Alison/Carter always felt a little forced to me, and while I would be perfectly happy should they end up together, it really doesn't bother me one way or another. The only time I was ever really rooting for them was in "Phoenix Rising" because I could believe that he really would be madly in love with her after all that time. My heart broke for Carter. In terms of recent episodes - OMG I *heart* Zane.
Overall verdict: Still smart, quirky, hilarious. I watch it for the supporting cast mostly.

Friday Night Lights
How did I put off watching this for so long? I'm an idiot. I'm still only partway through the season, so I'll leave my comments to this: COACH/MRS.COACH + MATT/JULIE + CLEAR EYES + FULL HEARTS = CAN'T LOSE. *sigh*
Overall verdict: Perhaps a DVD purchase. You know... today.

Heroes
I love Heroes, but it's one of those shows (at least for me), that doesn't hold its appeal from episode to episode as much as others. By that I mean that I'm in heaven when it's on and I'm watching, but at the end of the ep I'm fairly content to wait for next week to find out what happens next.
Overall verdict: Ready for the new season. I'm sure I'll be more enthusiastic once it's actually on my TV screen again.

The Office
So FREAKING excited for this to come back. One hand I feel like the writers have tried to make Jim/Pam the epic couple of the series, and I certainly adore them and their awkwardness. "I'm sorry what was the question?" anyone?. What's truly fantastic about this series is that even if Jim/Pam were to erupt in a firely ball of relationship destruction, the show would still be good and funny and worth watching. What a fantastic formula for TV.
Overall verdict: So ready for this to come back. It's been too long Dwight!

Psych
Ever since the S1 episode "9 Lives", I have been in love with this show. They have the most fantastic comedic chemistry and the writing and storylines are unique and funny. Just like Burn Notice, the Juliet/Shawn issue wasn't really top of mind in any episodes this season. Until the "close talking". So freaking hot. And asking about her parrot was just hilarious. The reason I love this show is how quickly it can switch gears, funny, sweet, tense, expository... it does it all.
Overall verdict: The only new show (new to me) I've recommended to my mother so far. That kinda speaks for itself.

Supernatural
Dean. Pretty. Sam finding answers. Pretty. War from Hell. Pretty. Metallicar. Pretty.
Overall verdict: I bawled senselessly over the finale, and I welcome even more this season if it comes with the same great storylines and acting and prettiness.

Veronica Mars
Yes, I am still catching up on series long since cancelled. I'm about half-way through the first season and I totally understand the hype. One of my closest friends in university adored the show and I absolutely see why. I like all of these shows that hit the right balance of episodic vs. serialized stories. Nothing pulls me out of a show quicker than a story arc I don't like that takes over everything *cough*LOST*cough*.
Overall verdict: I'm not racing to get to the next episode after each one finishes, but I'm glad I'm catchin up.
