Mica woke up this morning with a dry diaper. He protested going to the potty mightily, but once he was there, he peed and peed and peed. While this doesn't happen every morning, it certainly isn't unusual either. If he starts having a rough time sleeping early in the morning (like at 4 or 5) I'll sometimes ask
maxemulien to put him on the potty--which he protests *mightily* but he also pees and pees and pees.
Raine, on the other hand, still wears a pull-up to bed every night, because it is always wet in the morning. Our policy was always sleep before ECing, but at this point I would really like to have her out of pull-ups. Once the weather warms up, and she starts wearing lighter, easier to remove pjs, we're going to start waking her up at least once a night to pee, which I imagine she won't enjoy, but with any luck it will do the trick. I had hoped she would just naturally start staying dry, but now I don't think that's going to happen.
I just wish she and Mica were reversed. Heck, if Mica reversed himself (dry during the day and wet at night) that would also be awesome. Realistically, keeping him dry during the day is going to take some work and time--he's still pretty little yet. If he keeps staying dry at night, though, maybe he'll be out of diapers before he's four years old...
On another ironic note, we went out of town for spring break this year, and for every day of that vacation Raine woke up by 7:30. When we're at home and she has preschool in the morning, we have to drag her out of bed at 8. I thought we would all enjoy the chance to sleep in, but apparently not.
It was still a fun trip, and a nice chance to bond as a family, since we usually travel to visit people instead of just to enjoy ourselves. As always it is a bit of an adjustment to be back home and in our usual routine again, but it is also nice to eat our own food and sleep in our own beds. I'm especially enjoying our own food since my lactose intolerance returned with a vengeance during the trip. It is harder to avoid dairy when eating out, just because so many baked goods have milk in them, and cheese can easily be hidden in recipes without being mentioned on the menu. I have also gotten less hyper aware of dairy in the past year because my tolerance seemed to have increased--I could get away with most baked goods even without a lactaid, and lactaids themselves were working better than they had in the past. I think it had something to do with nursing--that my body was just generally better at processing foods because I needed every calorie I could get. Now that Mica is nursing much less, my body seems to be reverting to its hatred of all things dairy. And I really *like* baked goods. Sigh.
