I've been in my house since November 30th. One thing that I promised myself I would not do...was to let material sit around in boxes in the garage. I want things to be unpacked and put away....or thrown away. So, today, I tackled about 10 boxes of material. The first box was just the usual....some old records, magazines, and the like. Then I got into box 2...and the rest of the stack. Holy Guacamole! The stuff I was going through. I found convention books, badges, photographs, all manner of things that I had completely forgotten about.
I was able to locate things like: My con badges from Megaplex 1, Megaplex 2, Megaplex 3, Anthrocon 2002, Anthrocon 2004, Further Confusion 2003, the original videotapes from the stage performances at Furry Spring Break and PPMP 1. Lots of full convention packets...so all the literature that was in the con bags, artwork that friends drew on placemats and such when I went out to dinners, photographs, books, the list just goes on. Found cases of old CD's and DVD's...games that I bought....it's hard to describe my thoughts as I went through each box. Whether it was a piece of wood that had the word "Kuddlepup" burned into it from a campling trip, or a harmonica given to me by a close friend....everything was just bringing back memories.
I'm now categorizing all the material. Some things can be thrown out, some things I want to save. Some I can sell or give away. But it felt like a huge part of my life....fit inside those 10 boxes.
