For Riza .. it's not even a drabble, it's much too short even for that! There's a sequence in the movie that uses no dialogue whatsoever [unless you count some shout in German as dialogue] and I wanted to see if I could re-tell it from Baruch's point of view. Who is Augustine? Like summer, she’s warm against the yellow-grey grasses, gunmetal, and green, and observing, as I do, the cold barrel of mechanical death. Stars are just like targets for a gun no colder than the soldier. There is thunder, and then there is silence.
The moon hanging in the afternoon sky. Others around me, dead weight. Familiar faces, covered in dirt, dust, and blood, then hers. I shrug off my target, and leave Augustine and Trachimbrod behind me, forever.
