Do you download these shows or watch them on a local tv channel? Dr Who and Torchwood are shown here on two different channels, but they are not current. We get them after they are shown in the UK. Sometimes as much as a year later. Diary of a Call Girl was shown here on a channel that you have to pay extra to receive, Showtime. United States Of Tara is also shown on Showtime here. Supernatural is shown on a local channel that you can get by cable or an antenna depending on how strong the signal is. In a few months, tv is going to DTV that will require a special tv or box to receive DTV signals. Without the box some people will not be able to receive a good signal. The government is helping people with the purchase of these boxes so that it is only about $10 for the converter box. If you have a cable system, the signal will still work without the box.
I get all my shows from torrent sites and sekret comms here and there. I get them the day after they air in the US. They air in the evening there, I get them the following morning and watch them that evening usually or at lunch in the case of epic shows like Supernatural hehe.
I watch more shows from American TV as it airs there than I do English shows here, Who being the obvious exception.
yeah everything is going DT here soon, luckily my TVs in this house are all ready for it...
Just another reason your lovely mistress was worth all of it. Our series run so different than the UK series do. We have a set number of shows usually unless there is a strike going on. Most series here are thirteen weeks or episodes. If it does well the networks order more. Some are canceled quickly because the network doesn't get the ratings they want. I remember one show that was canceled before it even completed the first hour of the show. It was that horrible. It was a bit vulgar. I was a teen so I don't remember which show it was, but they got so many calls during the one episode, they canceled right away.
Yeah I have learned how the American networks work there with shows. And you are right it is very different.
I cant believe shows get cancelled mid season still though, I know it happens, but it never happens here. Except once! I was 15 and it was a show about a school where the kids were out of control and it was very sexual and crude, it was gakked from air after 2 episodes of 6. Other than that we just never get shows cancelled mid season.
I HATED and still do that they cancelled Angel like 4 eps before the end so they had to wrap it up the way they did in those last 3 episodes. Despite what all the actors said about it being a perfect ending blah blah, was it hell. I felt robbed of a real and fitting ending and it upset me greatly. I will never get over how they cancelled Angel like that and (just in my opinion is all) Ruined a perfectly good show with that ending, those last 3 eps were abysmal IMHO.
Some shows don't find their fans till late in the season. In the past, lots of shows found a loyal bunch of viewers when it was in rerun the following summer because they missed the show the first time around. Now we seldom have summer reruns. Instead they throw on some stupid reality show. Now you have to catch the show right away or later on DVD.
James was asked why they did the rainy fight in the alley in the last show of Angel. He said they didn't have much money left for special effects so they just dumped cold water on them to look like rain. I hated how they ended Angel. It was a cop out to me. Joss has continued on with comics, but I'm not interested in comics. I tried to read them, but was bored. That's why I enjoy fan fiction so much.

Oh that's mental! I am so sick of reality shows! The only one I watched is The X Factor (Like American Idol kind of) and I am sick of that I prob wont watch this year. Re runs are essential for a shows success IMHO

I really hate reality shows. They are cheap to film so that drives the networks to do them. It was just announced here in the States that a soap which began on radio and moved to tv and has been on for the air for 72 years now has been canceled. They say it will be replaced with either a game show or reality show. No wonder actors are losing work.
It's cheaper to have a bunch of idiots doing mindless crap than watching a well written and acted show.
I really wanted an ending to Angel and not the comics. Just look how many online sites are filled with fans when the show went off years ago. Hate Twilight. Not completely crazy about True Blood. Did love Blood Ties, but it was canceled. Didn't enjoy Moonlight. Hope the new show called Vampire Diaries isn't a total mess.
Vampire Diaries was a young adult book series before Twilight got huge. It's about two brothers who were turned after falling in love with the same woman. One brother is good while the other leans more to the evil side. Good brother falls for a young woman and then evil brother begins to go after her. That's all I know about it. Hopefully there are no sparkly vampires because that just stucked for me.
Tommy had read Twilight and wanted to see the movie. I only knew Bella and Edward's names and that she was human and he was a vampire. After watching the movie, I was like "WTF". I thought it was stupid. I had problems with Moonlight because of all the changes in the myths. Little things don't bother me, but sparkling or sleeping in a freezer? Just too odd for me. Give me classic vamps like Dracula or Spike. I have some problems with True Blood, but can watch it. Just bothered me how backwoods the characters were in it. They needed a shower most of the time.
Well to be honest I had seen everything that happened in Twilight a hundred times before so I was utterly unimpressed with that movie and wont ever watch it again...
Tommy did love the movie. If there are more of them then I will go see them with him. He supports me and I support him. He's gone to some movies with me he didn't really like either.
