Back to school
Here in TX the local schools started at different times. Some the first week of August. Then others a week later. A few started on Thursday which seemed odd to me. A parent said they wanted to ease kids back for two days then have a weekend off. Very few schools have virtual learning. Our governor doesn't want face masks required. He says it's up to personal choice. The school districts are not happy about that. 121,000 plus new cases of children with covid last week here. The school districts are fighting the governor on masks. At the start of covid it was older adults who filled hospitals. Now it's kids. Have we learned nothing? Kids and teachers along with other workers are in danger for themselves. They are exposed and then go home where others can be exposed as well. I wear a mask anytime I leave home. It's a very small thing that can prevent illness.
Update: Just found out TX Governor Abbott has COVID-19. Seems he is tested daily. He had a 200 plus meeting this week and then tested positive for COVID-19. The statement says he had been vaccinated and has now been given the same treatment as Trump when he got Covid-19. I doubt this will change his stance on masks or opening up everything. Unlike most he got the best treatment and doctors while many of those he governs for can't afford this care or treatments.
