This is so true, no matter the level of the person holding the belief. Friends ffall out because each believes they possess the truth, countries go to war, religions devastate and 'save'. All because we believe we are right!

Sadly it my country right now this is what is driving it. There is a group called the Tea Party who believe only they possess the "truth" and everyone must live by their beliefs. Abortion is wrong, gay marriage is wrong and so on. Yet they don't want the government to support those who can't provide for themselves due to being out of work, etc. Health coverage is a sham, but our government leaders pay nothing for their health coverage. The leaders do not pay into social security, but have a pension for the rest of their lives.

Sounds a lot like here. I think politicians are the same the world over, a breed unto themselves, looking after themselves first and foremost. Our frderal government is situated in a purpose built city, filled with the bureacracy that runs the country. These people have no idea how the ordinary person lives at all. We do have a free hospital system but the wiating lists are lengthy and people die on them. People die on gurneys in hospital hallways, waiting to be seen, waiting for a bed. It is all so sad and fustrating.

That's horrible. We have to pay for our own insurance and it isn't cheap. Lots go without meds cause the cost so much.

We do have a medicine plan as well but there are still many who cannot afford the meds. I don't know if the wealth divide is as great here as in the US but certainly the poor to lower middle class have been sliding backwards for years.
