The Following
I watch a lot of TV. Some series are just good empty minded fun.
The Following is not empty minded in any way. It grabs you and
pulls you into it. I love mysteries where you never know who is
on the up and up and who is playing you. The Following is one of
the best series I've seen in years. Dark and scary. It has an amazing
cast and is very well written. If you haven't watched it, give it a try.
Former lit professor Carroll, on death row for murdering 14 college
women nearly a decade ago, has used his considerable charm and
seductive charisma to prey on some weak, disturbed individuals and
create his own network of devoted killers outside the prison walls.
When serial killer Joe Carroll escapes from death row,
the FBI calls on Ryan Hardy, the former agent who put him
behind bars nine years earlier. While the team starts out
thinking of Hardy as a liability, he proves his worth when
he figures out that Carroll had been communicating with
a network of killers while he was in prison and that they
were planning more than just his escape. When Carroll's
intended last victim from before his incarceration is kidnapped,
it becomes clear that the psychopath means to finish what he started.
Carroll's followers do his bidding from prison. It's like a chess game.
Hardy tries to figure out Carroll's game plan. Carroll is a master of strategy.
He has his pawn structure arranged to play out the moves while Hardy is
trying to figure out who the players are and block them.
There series has thirteen episodes which have already been filmed.
I don't know if this is a one season series or if it will have another season.
I can't help, but hope it goes for more than one year.
