Nathan Fillion talks Soaps and Acting

I had planned to do these twice a week, but this video
shoved itself in early. I adore Nathan Fillion. He is in
person just like he appears on TV.
edenskye and I had a close encounter with Nathan
and Alan Tudyk at Dragon*Con the first year we got to go.
I saw Nathan coming toward us. I tried to alert Tommy.
As Tommy twisted around to see Nathan, Alan bumped
right into edenskye . It was quite funny.
I love to hear actors talking about acting. Going to panels at Cons are
one of my favorite parts of being a fan. I'm sad that soaps are a dying
form of TV. Soaps gave us some wonderful actors. They are amazing
training grounds for actors. As Nathan is talking about "a soap opera take",
it reminded me how Joey on "Friends" explained the 'smell the fart acting".
RACHEL: Did I miss it? Did I miss it?
JOEY: No, I'm on right after this guy shoots himself.
CHANDLER: Whoa, she's pretty.
JOEY: Yeah, and she's really nice too. She taught me all about how to
work the cameras, and smell-the-fart acting.
RACHEL: I'm sorry, what?
MONICA: What?
JOEY: It's like, you got so many lines to learn so fast, that sometimes you
need a minute to remember your next one. So while you're thinkin' of it, you
take this big pause where you look all intense, you know, like this.
