Prop. 8: Gay-marriage ban unconstitutional, court rules

Feb 07, 2012 13:53

"Proposition 8 serves no purpose, and has no effect, other than to lessen the status and
human dignity of gays and lesbians in California, and to officially reclassify their relationships
and families as inferior to those of opposite-sex couples. The Constitution simply does not
allow for laws of this sort."

These are simple and beautiful words to me.  I can't understand how two people who love
each other and want a life together to build a home and/or family should be denied just
because they are the same gender.

I know this will not change the minds of those who disagree with same sex marriage.
I know this won't be the last word. I expect an appeal in CA. Discrimination is wrong
no matter what form it takes.
