Sad news, happy news, and other things.

Sad news is that Patrick Swayze died. He died from cancer at age 57 after a twenty month battle with it. He was quoted as saying:

“How do you nurture a positive attitude when all the statistics say you’re a dead man?” he told The New York Times last October. “You go to work.”

He leaves behind many great works. He was determined not to be typecast. His movies, stage and tv work were varied. Some were forgettable, but others were magic. He played Danny in Grease and Billy Flynn in Chicago on stage. Some of my favorite movies of his are The Outsiders, Red Dawn, Dirty Dancing, Ghost, Point Break, and the silly, but fun To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar. His tv work was varied as well. He was in the mini-series, North and South. He appeared on Saturday Night Live doing things like Chippendales with Chris Farley.

Condolences to his family and his fans. He will be missed.

Happier news is Joss finally won an Emmy. Here is the link: scifiwire.com/2009/09/dr-horrible-wins-first-em.php

I haven't posted about my trip to Dragon*Con. I've been busy with work and other things. I have a rough draft of my post, but am still working on it. I will post it soon. I am still trying to get caught up with stuff at home and on LJ. Now I think I have cracked a tooth. I don't have dental insurance so don't know what to do about it. Last time I cracked a tooth I ended up having to have it capped. Not an inexpensive thing to do even when I had insurance. So I'm going to have to put it off for awhile till I figure out what to do about it. I am broke after Dragon*Con so the tooth will just have to wait awhile.
