Why am I so bad with non-canon ships? I apparently just can't ship anything that goes against canon. If neither person in a ship is involved in an established canon ship, then I can ship them together, but yeah. And even that's awkward to me sometimes. I would never read fic for some pairings, and others I'll try reading out of curiosity/to expand my shipper horizons (there's a sailing joke here somewhere) but I'll feel awkward and have to switch tabs and flail and giggle in awkwardness the whole time. Why am I even like this? I mean I'm happy with my canon and potentially canon ships, but it'd be nice if I could be less awkward about the other ones. I guess this is one reason why Harry Potter fandom throws me off a bit - it's really common to ship Harry/Hermione, but I can't ship them at all because I started shipping Ron/Hermione as soon as I found out they were canon. But I don't know, that's just one example. Like right now, I'm trying to read slash between two characters because I like it when they get in each others' faces on their show, but I really ship one of them with someone else on that show and that ship is pretty canon, so even though this fic is cute and I don't mind the mental image of them together, I feel super awkward. Idek.
Speaking of fic, I wonder if I should post anything I write here from now on, now that I'm trying to post more fandom stuff here. I could always just cross post from my
fic journal, though. This, of course, is assuming I manage to write anything ever again. But I am pretty satisfied with a little Owen/Tosh fic I wrote a few weeks ago, and now I'm kind of tempted to get even more ridiculous with my Pete's World ideas and throw that universe's Rani and Clyde into Torchwood. Ever since I realized Owen and Tosh can live on there, I guess I've gotten excited by the idea of playing around mostly in that universe. Can't say if anything will really come of it, though.
Anyway, Sailor Moon! The plot is finally showing up again!
Seriously, the beginning of this show seems to drag on for awhile. You get Usagi meeting Luna and Tuxedo Mask and becoming Sailor Moon, okay. Then you get a bunch of episodes of basically the same thing before Ami and Rei come along, and then a whole bunch more before it picks up again. I've been having a hard time getting into it, but today's episodes were an improvement! I wasn't expecting the whole storyline with Nephrite and Naru to be as good as it was, but in the end it was really heart-wrenching. Plus, a storyline spanning multiple episodes? What is this?
And more than that, the plot of the entire series is starting to come out; Mamoru's started talking about how he's searching for the Crystal in order to find out who he is, and his feelings of deja vu when he's with Sailor Moon are coming to the surface. Episode 22 is all about this, as they dance together and both feel as if they've done so before, long ago. He's even having those flashbacks of his Princess talking about the Crystal which are quite familiar to me thanks to PGSM's version.
I really need to stop referring back to PGSM in my head, though. I know that PGSM's story is different from the anime's, and I don't want to let it confuse me, though that kind of can't be helped. Confusing things that happened in PGSM with the anime and spacing out have me unsure as to whether Mamoru already knows that Usagi and Sailor Moon are the same person...I guess he doesn't, though.
After all the Nephrite/Naru drama, I finally made it to Mako-chan today! And while she was never one of my favourites in PGSM (not that I didn't love all of them, I just favoured Usagi and Ami especially), somehow her arrival in the anime was more exciting to me than Ami's or Rei's. Maybe it's because of how many episodes it's been since the last new senshi showed up, or because I'm getting more into it now. Or maybe I'm just more into badasses than I used to be. But she bursts in being a total badass but still with her adorable bentos and her crushes, and she's perfectly warm to Usagi despite the tough image the rest of the school seems to have of her, and when Luna figures out she's a senshi and she transforms for the first time, ugh, I definitely cried. Only one inner senshi left to go!
Also, the Moon Stick is here! And an attack name I recognize from PGSM! Familiar things!
One last thing I need to talk about is Zoisite's habit of floating into scenes to troll Nephrite (or anyone).
He just floats in like this all the time, and I don't even know, IT IS JUST THE FUNNIEST THING TO ME. Nephrite goes "What are you doing here?" AND HE FLOATS IN LIKE THAT ALL "SUP" and then proceeds to taunt him. When he meets Sailor Moon, he literally goes "Oh allow me to introduce myself" AND THEN FLOATS UP AND STOPS IN THAT POSE TO DO SO. Fuck, it'd be funnier in gif form maybe. Or maybe it's just me.
