I was on this crazy website that talked about the brain and stuff today, and i stumbled upon this:
The "wave" picture of the brain may offer a quite powerful explanatory picture describing particular phenomenon. Perhaps, the up to now baffling mystery of consciousness and the question of what is "mind" may be better explained by the wave approach.
The wave approach can often be the more useful description of many observations. For example, the memory process of long-term potentiation (LTP) can be understood in terms of the interactions of waves with each other.
LTP is the brain process where two neuronal synapses "increase" the sensitivity of the neural connection based upon stimulation. LTP increases the likelihood of new neural pathways. This brain process can be explained also in terms of waves, where LTP might be viewed as the interaction of two synaptic connection "waves" that are in-resonance and, hence, positively reinforcing each other.
I always knew LTP somehow expanded everyone's conciousness, i just couldnt pinpoint it emperically, until now.
