(In reponse to several blogs/articles/reports that are using a tragedy for grandstanding)
My prayers and meditations go out to all the people affected by the Gulf Coast hurricane and its aftermath.
Nothing will be accomplished by sitting back and blaming the President, the Democrats, the Republicans, the gas companies, the National Guard, the Iraq War....
Thousands of people need help. As a collective group, we should all be doing our part to help. Surrounding states, cities, and counties should be sending resources over. We should all be donating money, clothing, and supplies to appropriate agencies to lend a helping hand.
For all those reading in Seattle, the same thing could easily happen to us with a large earthquake. Would we want people using that tragedy to make political and social judgments? Or would we simple want some assistance to rebuild our lives in the wake of a tragedy no one could have prepared for?
The lack of connection some people feel to other human beings is disturbing, depressing, and abhorrent.
