No, I'm not dead. Yet.
I'm rewriting Merged Worlds for anyone interested, and all those who think I'm wasting my time can BE DAMNED. It's my baby and I can't let it go without a little polished rewrite. It's hella reinvented. Tala is not the same character AT ALL. If you want to get a vibe for her try to find the song 'Courage' by BOA (the UK band, not the Korean pop star). And I got rid of the Sailor Moon-esque gem power crap and the sci-fi-esque worlds-physically-colliding thing (so the title Merged Worlds has a completely different meaning as well). Structurally it's weird, but that's what I want. So, if your interest is peaked, hit me up with a comment and your email or something to that effect. If anyone uses Buzzword (it's Adobe's free online word processor that's pretty damn awesome), I can send a share invite to you. I've got 10 pages done so far that need heavy revising still. So yeah, lemmeknowk?
But I bet you want to know what the hell I've been up to these past months...so I guess I'll bullet point it for you with no chronological order at all!
-Alexis went part time on our project, so I'm the go-to person for everything SpaceFortress related. Which is fun but frustrating.
-We got a new post-doc student who wants to use our experiment setup for her own study. She's one of the frustrations implied before. Trying not to hold her eagerness and non-established authority against her...
-Winter happened and it sucks.
-Went to the live taping of The Daily Show on Inauguration Day, which was AWESOME.
-Went through a little bout of angst but who really cares cause I always get over it yay.
-GOT A KITTEN. His name is Obby and he has a neurological disorder called cerebral hypoplasia. Really means he's a dirty drunk 24/7. Oh but he's adorable and quite the charmer. He charmed the pants off a bunch of French boys.
-Had a crazy New Year's party at our apartment which ended with most of the people making out/having sex with said French boys in the bathroom while the rest of us awkwardly waited for them to finish. We throw the best parties.
-Becca came to crash on our couch for a couple months (and is still keeping it warm, lol).
-Accidentally made friends with some religious group that keeps stopping by our door and asking for me by name. Eep.
-Joined OkCupid to meet new people cause socializing is damn difficult in NYC. A couple came through but nothing much in terms of developing a relationship thing.
-Utterly broke my glasses this morning. Taking this as a reason to start a months-long hella gradual makeover!
-Starting taking classes this past Wednesday! I'm taking the Fundamentals of Neuropsychology at Barnard cause it's *free* since I work at Columbia (affiliated with Barnard). Parents still don't understand the fact that I am NOT pursuing a graduate program at the moment and seem disappointed in me because of it. Shut up parents I know what I'm doing!
AAAAAAAnd I'm beating off a cold right now, but I'm nursing a crazy headache what with broken glasses and all. Fun times. I'll try to update more often but I kinda suck at this nowadays...
