Our family is in our birthday season. Tonight we celebrate two birthdays: our son’s and our granddaughter’s. Dinner is at our place.
I love planning and executing a family dinner! Now here’s the whine---it takes me about two days to make dinner. OMG! I can do almost anything with this @#$R%*knee, but there is a price to pay. Mostly, I break tasks into tiny bits of time, work five minutes, sit ten minutes, etc. After a while, I have to put my feet up and sit for at least an hour. I have come to hate that timer app on my phone. My wise, thoughtful self, sets the timer, but that other “I-have-stuff-to-do” self keeps checking it and checking it---what ??? I have 27 more minutes??? /whine
Good thing I have a cat that helps me stay down! Juice loves the timer---"Humanz not moving for one hour. Can take bath,"
Last Wednesday, 2/22, was supposed to be my knee replacement surgery. I had done so much prep, like that pre-op shower instructions are tapped to the wall in the bathroom, reminders in my phone calendar, etc. On Wednesday, I very methodically went through my calendar, canceling all those appointments, but I left the shower instructions up. I still hope I will need them in a couple of months, but that is a faint hope. If the A1c is down in late May, it could be December before the surgery could be scheduled. /whine
I have been dreaming of hiking the trail to the
Grove of the Patriarchs on Mt. Rainier. This is my victory dance. I so want to stand beneath those giant, ancient trees. Here’s hoping for summer of 2018. /whine.
Timer just went off! I’m out of here.
