Sunday Sermon title --- "Don't Panic!"

Sep 28, 2008 07:10

Our son wrote a wonderful short story whose hero's brain injury means he cannot remember more than the last 24 hours. He carries a notebook, whose cover says, "Don't Panic."

A Facebook status said it best, "Wall Street is dead." Actually, I didn't comprehend exactly why. This article about Goldman in the New Times this morning is readable and tells a great story that even I can understand. All of this reminds me of the the "Bond Daddy" era when Memphis and Little Rock were the centers of that madness and then overnight --- bust. Then there was the Dot Com rise and fall.

Short version is we are staying in the market. Blessedly we have a financial adviser whose advice we followed (thanks be to God!) and though we have lost like everyone else,  we are battle scared veterans and we know, over time, things will improve.

So, don't panic. Stay the course, tighten your belt, cut corners and hang in there. All will be well, but just not right now.

And I love this which reminds me that many companies, like Microsoft are sound. Click on the cartoon to enlarge.

Another bit from John's story, "It's not OK, but it is cool."
