Landed in Reims, France today, after a 6 or 7 hour journey. Getting the cats out from under the bed and into the carrier this morning was like something out of the World Wrestling Federation, which was a bit distressing. However they seemed to go into "travel coma" on the way and were much quieter than yesterday. They both dove under the bed upon arrival but are now both on top of the covers and on top of me, one bathing and the other kneading. I think this is a good sign. I gave them an extra-special canned gourmet cat food today as a reward, since they don't do people food. This was the stuff from a local vet that I'd normally never spend the money for. They seemed to like it.

It was beautiful seeing all the snow, and a significant memory jolt feeling the cold. Madrid does get pretty cold, but no snow of course. Barcelona gets no cold and no snow. However I do have it in my history, I have a nice new down coat from Land's End, and considering where we're going, I'm enjoying the wintery, christmasy feel of it all. Especially the blanket of pristine snow on a little French village complete with church as we drove by today. Awwww.

The hotels Barry has picked have been excellent and we are well fed on breast of duck, cauliflower au gratin and French Rosé wine (the house wine was amazing, as is typical in France), and we are now ensconced for the night. I want to be well rested for tomorrow because a) it's a 5 hour drive to where we are going and b) the moving truck is also supposed to arrive at the house when we arrive and c) we have to go to City Hall to register our presence in the country, all before 7pm tomorrow night. Phew.

So...Night all!
