I am inching towards completion of my first year of residency/PhD training. Some days I feel like I've learned a lot and am pretty confident as I talk with owners and referring vets and other days I feel dumber than my first day. Luckily the latter days are getting to be fewer and fewer.
Right now I am spending 3 weeks in Seattle at
Amgen. This is a great biotech/pharmaceutical company that is paying me to go to school at the moment. It's pretty neat to see what I may actually be doing someday as a vet pathologist in industry. It's also interesting to see the mentality of big "little" companies out here. They encourage car pooling and van pooling by giving you $25 a month if you do it, or $50 a month if you walk or ride your bike. I've been walking or riding the bus to and from work and it works pretty well. Especially with gas prices on the rise, it's nice to leave my car in the garage! There is also a grocery store and tons of restaurants within walking distance of my hotel room apartment. Fun!
Today I pampered myself in the city a little bit. I went downtown to my favorite store
Lush. I got a few bubble bars and bath bombs (The Buffy body butter is the best product I've ever used!) I also bummed around town and checked out some other stores. When I got home I went to teh gym which is right next door to where I'm staying. Then it was a wet walk in the rain to pick up some fantastic!!!! indian food. Then I took a bubble bath with one of my new bubble bars! Ahhh... so nice and relaxing!
I'm really looking forward to trying out some of the places to eat around here! That's one thing I miss living in Pullman is food choices!! I love all kinds of ethnic food, which is very limited on the Palouse.
I'll try to take some pictures if it ever stops raining! I hope to go explore some of the parks and beaches this weekend.
