Back!
Coo lummy what a week.
Beautiful Days was great. Little to say about it that would actually be interesting tor ead apart from the fact that Great Big Sea are amazing, the Damned are rather good live, Bill Bailey is hilarious, Beautiful Days is the best festival in the world ever and you should all come next year, and skiffle punk is what all the cool kids are into these days. But you knew all that already.
Then, quick turnaround in London followed by Wychurst. The work week was .. well a bit more subdued than usual actually. I don't think the waether helped (the mud, THE MUD!) but also in comparison to last year there were fewer obvious milestones to aim for. Still enjoyed it, but not quite the high it usually is.
That said, on a personal front it went about as well as it could. I am blessed to have some truly special and wonderful friends, who have made me feel so welcome. I was a bit worried that when S and I broke up that would be it for me & Regia (some squabble over kids (!) or possessions - but who gets to keep the hobby??). And if it had been like that I was resigned to it - it would have been fair. But - it hasnt been the case at all. It still feels like coming back to my village after how ever many weeks or months. Still feels like coming home. And in fact, S and I have been getting on pretty well as well. This is more than a bonus, and something which pleases me no end. I think ..(whisper it) its all going to be alright.
I didnt stay for Detling (I have a wedding to go to on Monday, but was gonna go for one day)cos I was too cold, wet and thoroughly knackered to enjoy it, or be particularly good company. Didnt fancy another night in a damp sleeping bag. Soooo nice to be back in my lovely flat, clean, warm and with access to tea and crap telly!
