So....I haven't posted here in a while, no?
Anyhoo, figured I'd give a little update, since I haven't done that in a month or so.
Job:
I have one! It's the CRAPPIEST job in the world (Burger King), but it pays, which is fabulous, because I have this habit of spending money. Like way too much of it. I overdrew my account by like....a lot. So guess where my paycheck's going?! :D
I have now decided I have no idea what direction to take in the future regarding a career. I kinda realize now that I just kind of played pretend that I knew what I wanted.... I know I still want to go into entertainment, but I still don't know what aspect. I guess it's a good thing that I realize I'm not all set yet. Cause otherwise I'm just fooling myself, right?
So here are things I'm willing to spend the rest of my life doing:
-Act
-Design/build theatre sets/props
-Design/build theatre costumes
-Haunted house troupe
-Be in a band
-Freelance art
-Writing stuff
I'm also beginning to realize I'm doomed to live my father's life, in a manner of speaking. I realize I'm going to be poor, scatterbrained and childish for the rest of my life. I'm becoming okay with that. It's taken me a while to get there, but I am finally understanding that I HAVE to be myself, or I will go crazy from bending over backwards for other people. I don't have to live with them.
Which leads me to my next topic.
Social Life:
I've actually left my house more than a handfull of times this summer, which makes me WORLDS happier. I've mostly been chilling with Jenn and Keiko, since they both work at BK with me, and we chill after work a lot.
We've been going to see a lot of Beatles tribute shows lately. The two of them have gotten me on a GIANT Beatles kick. It makes me feel like a little kid to listen to the Beatles so much, and I love it love it love it. I forgot how much I loved them. We go to a lot of Beatles tribute shows now, mostly to see "The British Invasion" (we're stalking them), which is local, but we just went to see "Hard Day's Night" recently, which while they weren't as good a band as The British Invasion, their "George" (Jimmy Pou) looked uncanilly like George Harrison. He does a set on his own, all George songs, which make Jenn really happy. She loves George. ^_^
We'll be seeing Hard Day's Night again later this week, then seeing The British Invasion yet again on Saturday. God we're obsessed.
I've also made a LOT of new friends through the music of Dr. Steel. (If you haven't listened to him yet, my last post has a music video of his, or you can visit www.doctorsteel.com to find out more.) In fact, I met up with one at the Midwest Haunter's Convention (which kicked ass) and we hit it off really well. My Dr. Steel friends don't get together much, since we're sorta spread out (the closest one to me lives in Toledo) which is unfortunate, but at least I'll get to see them one more time before summer's up.
Speaking of, BG rejected me, so I'm thinking Hocking Tech might take me- I hope they do, I really want to go there. If they don't, it's off to CSCC until my GPA is good enough to transfer somewhere else.
Music:
I've been listening to a lot a lot of music lately. I'm trying to expand my musical tastes beyond what I normally listen to, but it's not really working. I'm stuck on art rock, anachro-rock and industrial for sure. Here's what's on my playlist right now:
Dr. Steel
Emilie Autumn
Rasputina
Flogging Molly
The Beatles
George Harrison
Ringo Starr
John Lennon
Paul McCartney
Sean Lennon
The Squirrel Nut Zippers
Abney Park
Oingo Boingo
Supertramp
Veruca Salt
Billy Corgan
The Smashing Pumpkins
Angelspit
Not much of which is really current, but they're all pretty unusual as far as 'normal' music goes. I like to hear strange new noises. If you like strange new noises, check out any one of these bands.
Style:
I've gotten really into DIY this summer. I've learned to knit, I'm tea-staining the hell out of everything, making my own clothes, altering things I already own, reading up on Steampunk culture and generally making messes. ^_^
So I've been busy! I love being busy and doing things rather than sit around getting bored. See you in the aether, friends!
