yesterdays concert was awesome. phoenix did well, however not their best performance, but still really good. the shows were much better when caite was there. honestly, skip doesnt do the best of jobs on caites songs. shes somewhat crucial. dizzy was so awesome. just watching him play the keyboard was awesome in the first place. but they had such a great stage presence. well i mean i guess hes gotta, considering hes played for crowds of THOUSANDS. even though there were like 40 people there tops, he made you feel liek you were in a room of hundreds. and the music they played was just so good. some stones, kiss, and of course guns 'n roses. this was my favorite phoenix concert music wise. the first one where the headliner was actually better than the openers. however, there was one particular punk opener that turned my stomach insideout and upsidedown. they were this cheesy punkish band who could decide if they were boys or girls. first of all they wore girls jeans. one was wearing tilt, and the other glo. and it's not as if they had nice asses to fill them with or anything either. then their makeup which was done by their girlfriends was just horrific. their girlfriends must be prostitutes or drag queens to cake that much of that crap on. i dont even wear that much makeup. hell, i dont wear any makeup. they looked liek they were the modern spinaltap too. they walk onto the stage and the lead guitarist holds his guitar in the air and started strumming the open strings feverishly. and to top it off, i hated their music AND i had a headache. so i went into the lounge and played pool by myself while everyone watched the show. they opened up the underground so i hung out in there for a little bit. they were playing nice music. it was very dashboard and DMBesque. then there was some jazz so it was nice to play pool and listen to the various bands. they were actually skilled too which made it fun. it wasnt just all 4/4 which was nice. some good groove to some of the songs. at least out of what i heard. i think mike wouldve enjoyed it. i dont know if he still listens to dashboard anymore though. i doubt it. im becoming more and more enthralled in them. no worries, im not an emojerk, its just a nice change from rock. oh and DMB as well, im getting into them too. goooood music. i see my style is changing...
mike jon [skip] and i had an interesting conversation while we were there. ill write about it when im not so lazy. it was about the ideal society. jon feels that the ideal society consists of robots doing everything for humans, and humans doing practically nothing. (in theory that would be hecka awesome)however i tended to side with mike on this one in that i feel the perfect society consists of a spiritualilty and culture. well thats the very basics of it. ill go into more detail because it was quite interesting. be sure to read ishamel as mike advises if you are into this kind of stuff. ill eb sure to pick it up over the summer.
in any case, this hippie is out. :-P
