Well, not really - but I seem to spend the time I used to read LJ on Facebook now...sigh.
And - in February (right before Estrella) Korwyn was laid off. This is good, since he needed to decompress and he is eligible for unemployment. This is bad, because every penny of his unemployment, without taxes taken out, does not even cover our rent. Much less utilities, car, etc.
I spent all last year bailing out the lawyer in Vegas where I worked from 2006-2009; that left me no availability to look for or accept work locally in the north/east SF Bay area. And it was on 1099, so no unemployment for me. Upon reflection, although I was glad to do it, it was not a good decision.
So, now we have me and Korwyn hitting the job boards EVERY DAY - I have applied for an average of 6 jobs per day, 7 days a week (except spring break; we took that Monday-Sunday off to "go tourist" in NorCal with William, and go to Spring Coronet in Milpitas).
We have been given a strong helping hand from my most awesome sister eilis, which will hold us until May 31; we have one paying roommate, so that will probably cover June. After that - well, let's just say that Korwyn is already applying for ANY job, ANYWHERE that he is qualified for; and even if I get a job that pays my "normal" wage, I might not be able to stay in Cali to work. Sheesh.
THIS ECONOMY SUCKS. There is no way that two adults over 45, with combined work experience of 66 years should be thinking homeless and food stamps. It's just plain wrong.
