Moving - moved - now to work...
Well, first day of September, also first day of first grade...and first day of Roisin's visit, and first day of the move (oh, and hosting, however briefly, a Coast Guard SCAer from Oertha who needed to land somewhere to get settled in his new duty post in Oakland...).
The landlady was unable to get anyone in on Tuesday to clean the kitchen (refer and stove were NASTY!!!) so she said she would pay for us to do it or have someone do it; Liam's friend Dashiell's mom, Jessica, had already volunteered to help, so she spent Wednesday from 8:30 until 3 cleaning ... did an awesome job!!!
Mike and ysabella_dolfin were troopers, and we got everything we HAD to move so we could sleep in the new house (3.5 blocks from the old apartment). Roisin got here mid-afternoon, we went to FP at ysabella_dolfin's, then korwyn fetched Thomas from OAK at 10:30...and then no sleep for me (don't know why - newness?).
I hired movers without a truck for Thursday, and had scheduled a rental truck. The movers showed up with no english, but with a truck...so we go !! (korwyn called and canceled the rental truck).
Guys with truck moved all but a little kitchen/refrigerator stuff andkorwyn 's office and my folding chair and laptop, since we were to have AT&T DSL through Friday and Comcast was DUE to install on Thursday at the new place, but...Comcast sucks, so wanted a hedged bet there. twistle came to hang at the house to talk tech to the Comcast guy and make it so we could just leave it unlocked. She also helped ALOT with putting away and getting stuff built...so thanks to her, the internet works, we have a landline (not that we will ever use it...)
After the furniture load from the apt., me and the mover guys went to the storage to empty it out...yeah...broken elevator? Seriously? and 1800+ paperbacks PLUS three boxes of hardbacks, art, etc. AND all our SCA/Camping gear. Sigh. The mover guys TOOK ALL THE BOXES DOWN THE STAIRS! Wow! Best $155 plus tips I EVER spent! Now, all my SCA stuff is, of course, still in the storage, which I only paid through 9/2...we'll see how that goes; hopefully I can go fetch the rest today.
The rest of Thursday is a blur - the cable box does not work (f$%kin' Comcast!!!) and the chinese from Tai San was nice. SLEEP HAPPENED!!! That so rocked!
We moved the rest of the food, offices, and cleaned the apartment Friday morning, thenkorwyn had the walkthrough with the owner of the Apt. That went pretty smoothly; then off to the Meadery and MongolianBBQ for the win...Roisin had a great conversation with Conal.
Saturday was full of organizing and putting away for me; Roisin and korwyn went to knight's errant in Caer Darth...I am sorry I missed it, the pics look great!!
