Spinning My Creative Wheels

I dont know if you know this, but I tend to think a lot. Some might say that I "overthink" things, that at times it might be better just to do, to act, to go with the flow than sit there and analyze whether to put my pants on right-left or left-right. Perhaps there is some legitimacy to these statements. Ok, they are absolutely , 100% correct. ( Read more... )

Katie;

As I read your posts I always try and think of ways to respond, whether it's words of encouragement, praise, or just letting you know that I'm always here if you need anything. The problem is, however, that the "correct" words always escape me. I'll write something and then decide it doesn't sound right, so I delete it and never post. Much like my "foreign" accent in Buffalo, my words always seem out of place.

I read what you write, and what you say is always enthralling. You have that ability to grab the readers’ attention and truly understand how you are feeling. This is a truly great gift you have and I am envious of it.

With that said, I must implore you to continue writing about your experiences in Boston and how you feel about them. You say you feel like you have lost your creative instincts in a way, but I think that is the farthest from the truth. I can see it in your writing. Though it might only be small entries, it has the potential to be so much more. Alison is right when she says you should write a book or something one day. But after reading this entry, I don't think it should be a book, but perhaps a playwrite (I think that’s proper terminology). Your experiences and feelings that you express here, I feel would transpose seamlessly into a wonderful work of art. Who knows, maybe then you can even cast yourself in a role and get to express yourself not only in your writing but also your performance. It would be your play, who's gonna tell you no.

Anyway, I hope all the best for you and that you do find something that makes you truly happy. You are a great friend with immense amount of talent.

~Brian
