Day 2 - Wordcount 5188 - 80% left to go

Jul 05, 2011 22:20

Oh man. Did I fight the tiredness tonight. But I was determined not to give in and go nap like I sooooo wanted to after work. And my reward? Voila one hell of a long chapter - did I mention LONG chapter?

Didn't take me too long to get back into the swing of it. So you remember the goal to hit 2.5k... yeah got that... times 2. I wanted to get to the end of a point, and that point took me as much as was necessary and was always going to be longer than 2.5k. I was just trying to trick myself.

Word Count for Day 1:
5188
Total Word Count for TDP - Book 2 (so far):
18446

I'm loving this plot thing. Absolutely loving it. I need to do this for my short stories and make sure I'm getting everything I need to and making it the best it can be. You'd think I'd be able to tear through short stories... not so!

I was tempted to try for 20k tonight, but we all know how I get when I push it too far. Better to stop here and not have to try and decipher what the hell I wrote in the morning.

I do love the thrill of pantsing and seeing where it is my story wants to take me. But I know (mostly) where I want my novels to go, so apart from a few little detours while taking a scenic route my characters may feel is necessary, keeping to the point by point plot is so far definitely the way for me to go.

Maybe one day I'll be strong enough to combine the two approaches. Yes, in my brain that is definitely possible.

And gods do I love my goulasch. Mmmmm yum.
