So what am I doing to respect the environment?
OK, so I haven't washed me car in like, ever. But that's not entirely new, and probably more due to laziness than anything else.
I couldn't stand cutting down my shower time any more, so I've taken up the habit of severely reducing the flow. Go to what I'd like, then halve it. I'm hoping that, and the water saving head, are helping.
I've also started catching the train/bus to work one day a week to reduce GHGs. One day is easily doable, especially if I don't have to go anywhere after work. Plus, my Translink fare is cheaper than parking at uni.
My house pays extra for our electricity as it comes from renewable energy resources (just apply to Energex, it's not that much more expensive).
I'm looking at moving house in the new year specifically to be closer to uni / work (also public transport accessible) which will reduce my driving and encourage me to pick up stuff on the way home while walking.
OK, so I have a long way to go. I'd say "baby steps" but at some point we just have to grow up.
