This weekend there was some giggage.
On Saturday I headed down town to see British Sea Power, they put on a damn good show, apart from their monotonous sounding support band and a few technical problems it was a great night, in fact the technical problems went largely unnoticed as band memebers continued to chat with the random harmonica player in the audience as to which of their songs he could play his C harmonica to. They then proceeded to finish by going insane - attacking each other/the crowd, waving branches and pretending to be birds. For the first time in ages I actually stood at the front for the whole gig, needless to say I came out soaking wet and with a massive grin on my face.
The evening was finished by me trying to help my friend stalk Jason Mraz after his show in another part of town, unfortunately he never appeared but it was nice feeling knowing that I could hang around after gigs here and not miss the last train home.
Sunday night was Thursday, I somehow managed to get from Manchester Piccadilly to the venue and also managed to miss the support acts including "the Zico Chain" who I had seen supporting alkaline trio - they may infact be the worst band in existance, when I saw them before I had to refrain from laughing out loud that was after wanting to cry at the fact that they weren't actually being ironic. Anyway Thursday put on a great show in a venue which I can only describe as a room that looks like a school hall which someone poorly attempted to make into a "venue". Apart from the fact that I didn't know their new stuff and clearly was not as "hardcore" a fan as the black haired/pierced/tattoed 16 year old boys around me it was still a good night, I wouldn't call myself the biggest (to pigeon hole correctly) "post-hardcore" fan ever but Thursday really are a good band and put as much energy and feeling (with occasional camp dance moves) into their shows as anyone could want.
