my two great aunts are nuns. they are commonly referred to as "the gang." their favorite things are drinking, going to casinos, and praying daily for our family.
anyone who brings a guest to dinner gets to eat first. on the other hand, the guest also has to participate in pre-dinner christmas caroling.
the fight over who has to read the bible verse before dinner.
my aunts and dad are currently sitting in a circle in the living room singing songs in four-part harmony. they broke from poignant songs to do a rendition of "sorry randy," which is a five-verse apology to one aunt's husband. they originally wrote and performed it at her wedding rehersal dinner.
the way my grandpa and grandma interact. he teases her about everything; she pretends to be mad but laughs the whole time.
my dad introduced adriana to our entire family as "the love of my life." my aunt later told me she considered standing up and saying "well katie is the love of my life!"
every christmas we watch the oldschool version of the grinch. then one person is elected to dress up as the grinch to entertain the children (many years there are actually no children).
