on june 6th
on 6/6/06 i went to the top of the eiffel tower. other than hating the feeling of lonliness while all the tourists around me were there visiting with family, friends, fiances, boy/girlfriends, i enjoyed the view and the strange quietness and serenity at the top of the tower. everyone just stands up there in a weird reverent silence, taking pictures, standing looking out with each other, and being very patient and quiet with each other. in all other parts of the tower, it's loud, annoying, pushy with long waits. and, i got to see my hotel from the top of the tower which was awesome! while i stood in line waiting for this couple to stop backing up the line taking 8 slow pictures of her engagement ring from different angles, i looked over at the hotel and wished i was there instead of in the chaos.
