I was discriminated against for being a straight woman!!!
My friend and I wanted to go salsa dancing tonight, so we randomly chose a place we had both gone to (but not recently) and as we were walking to the door, this guy walks out and proceeds to tell us, "Ladies, where are you going?. "There..." I pointed to the salsa club, who's doors were right behind him. He then tells us, "Ladies, if you don't mind, please go somewhere else. Tonight is gay night."
SO, we were asked to go somewhere else... we were rejected because we were straight women.
I am in utter shock!!!
Yes, I know the U.S. discriminated against gay men for a long time, but I never discriminated against them!!! And now I am being turned away from public places because I'm not gay?????
Talk about unfair!!!!
I am just outraged. We should be open to all people, and accepting of all people. Why is it that African-Americans get to have their own clubs, and gay men get to have their own clubs... I sure as hell have not seen any clubs that allow only straight people lately!!!
And if I was really pissed, I'm sure I can sue the club for discriminating against me... but everyone would laugh and say, "HA, it's YOUR turn to be discriminated against."
Well guess what... every group of people here in the world has had their turn to be discriminated against... there were the Catholics, then the Protestants, then the Indians, Irish, Jews, Blacks, etc. My own father continues to be discriminated against just because his skin is tan and he has a thick accent. Now I have to be discriminated against because of I'm straight????
I am just pissed. Outraged. In disbelief!!!
This is how prejudices happen. Our minority groups expect us to be open-armed with everything, so we don't exclude them, but they're not open-armed to everyone else. It's bullshit.
