plaid is such a sweet color
So it seems that the only time I really ever update this thing is when something bad happens, and I think that this is a habit that needs to change pronto.
However, it will not be changing with this post, unfortunately.
Today I said goodbye to someone who was a true blessing to all those who knew her. She was overflowing with life, love, enthusiasm, and joy, and always tried her best to share these qualities with the ENTIRE world. She died as she lived, trying new things, climbing to the heights, and seeking adventure.
There are so many things that will always remind me of you Michaela. The color plaid (yes, plaid is now a color, FYI), Xavier 4 (because it is better on top!), mass at St. Iggy's, Spanish, Camp Don Bosco, the YMCA song, pretty much everything that has to do with Search, and so much more.
I just thought of our Search song, and the line that said "Something deep inside keeps saying life is like a vapor, gone in just the twinking of an eye." That was our hilarious, country-imitating inside joke of the retreat... I can just hear you saying in the ridiculous twangy accent "Life is like a box of vapors, ya never know when you're gonna get a solid!" It makes me laugh, but now I look at the real lyrics and realize how true they are, and I'm thankful that I got to share that amazing experience with you.
I wish that I had been able to say goodbye. I wish that we had years and years still to spend together. However, I must be content with the hope that you hear me when I say that I love you and I miss you. I pray with all my heart that you heard me sing for you today. RIP. See you in heaven Michaela.
