Or...
How I fell asleep on the coach to France, woke up snuggled up to a man my Dad's age, discovered I had drooled on his shirt, and then decided, Fuck it. He's comfy. I'm going back to sleep.
His name was Rupert, he's married, has kids my age, and was hugely embarrassed about the whole thing. But considering I toppled over on to him whilst sleeping it was more my fault than his.
Dude,
If you ever run into this. I fell asleep first. I was also the one who fell over onto you. Not your fault that you put your arm around my shoulders whilst sleeping.
Btw. You were really warm and comfy and the bus was absolutely freezing. It was great meeting you!
23 hours + Euroline coach = NEVER AGAIN. Even with a comfy Rupert to nap on.
So.
These last couple days I've been in London taking in the sights, visiting markets, and crashing into the Cultural Attaché of the Zimbabwean Embassy at every available opportunity. I swear he was lurking around corners just waiting for me to come round them.
London was fantastic. Loads of construction though. Everything has to be shiny new for the Olympics this summer. Which means that there were massive delays on the tube line and buses went everywhere but where they said they were going. And construction guys! Lots and lots of fit construction guys in reflective vests. Bonus!
The markets of London were quite impressive. The group from Jordan staying at my hostel wasn't. I wanted to strangle those kids at the end of the week. It was bad. So very very bad.
20 kids aged 13-15 in London with only 2 teachers. Who planned that one?
I could go on for hours about how rude the teachers were, how loud the kids were, and in general how badly organized that whole tour was. Bloody incompetent "Head" teacher thought he could intimidate me by listing off his credentials. Dude. I just told your kids at 2:30 in the morning to shut up. I am in no way a Pedophile Deadbeat American and quite frankly I have a hard time believing that you taught at Oxford. Leave me alone please. And get your charges to shut up.
To make a long story short. I went to reception and got the names of the Teachers/Tour Group so I could write a letter of complaint.
Is in the mail Monday! That'll teach Short, Fat, and Blond to mess with the Sleep Deprived Kt. Grrr....
I met some tv show writer that thought my idea about having a teen comedy set in a fast food restaurant was brilliant (It's not), went to a cafe with a red awning for the best chocolate thing ever. (It's too bad I have forgotten the name/location),did the Natural History Museum, had Japanese tourists taking my picture while I was eating lunch on a park bench, saw Buckingham Palace, went to Hyde park, got chased by a swan in Hyde Park, fell into the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain, saw the Parliament buildings/Big Ben, and saw the outside of the London Tower.
It was brilliant. I am so totally coming back in the fall. Maybe the weather will be a bit less rainy. Not that that's much of a hope for England though. I hear it always rains. :)
Right now I'm in the south of France where I can't speak a word of the language but it's sunny and a has a high of 19 C forecast for tomorrow. Bring it on!
