Why I sometimes dread being a teacher in Florida...

I was checking out my county's school website and it says that we have the highest academic scores in state history since our schools are number one in the state in reading, math, and science, and second in writing. I would be happy to work in the number one county, but the reason they're number one is because all they do is teach FCAT...so many kids get stuck in FCAT classes b/c they get tested a few times a year just to see how they'll do on the FCAT and if they're not great then they have to get rid of an elective and take a special class. Why? B/c our schools get money for being A schools...and then everyone argues about how the money should be spent. I don't really want to be a part of that but I really want a job. At least the subject I can teach isn't on the FCAT...yet.
