And now I'm scared to death

First though the good news. I got a phone call from the Regional Manager yesterday with Aspen Dental informing me that the doctor who did my botch job of a root canal has been let go. I have the option of having someone see me now and fix it free (*buzzer sound* wrong answer!), or having them cut a check for the amount I paid (and giving the rest back to MetLife, which they may or may not give me). So next week they're cutting a check in the amount of $500 for me to take to a trustable dentist to fix me. I'm thinking I might just have them pull the darn thing, and the wisdom tooth behind it. I think the wisdom tooth is what's causing all the trouble, but my jaw is small and I almost feel like I don't have enough room for the ones I've got. I'll see what Dr. N says, I trust his opinion.

Thanks by the way to all who advised on the lawyer situation. Luckily it's not coming to that, though a fat settlement check would have been nice. ;-)

So much for the good news. I've been taking Aleve for the pain but could only take so many per day without ruining my stomach. So I decided to buy some aspirin instead which is milder on the stomach and I can, therefore, take more of. Too bad it also only took the edge off where the Aleve was making it almost painless. It was a stupid thing to do and I know it, but I took Aleve after a whole day of taking the Bayer. Then all of the sudden last night I started having this ringing in my ears like I just came from a rock concert and my hearing was slightly diminished. I got home from my parents' house and by then was exhausted and a bit disoriented. I blamed exhaustion for it all and went to bed. I woke up at 11 with excruciating pain in my tooth and noticed the ringing wasn't even starting to recede. So I hop on WebMD.com and look it up in the symptom checker. Possible cause: Aspirin overdose!!! The ringing is the first sign, followed by nausea, vomiting, disorientation, lethargy, and coma. Lucky for me the only thing I had left was the ears ringing. I used some Orajel and went back to bed thinking for sure the other symptom would be gone by morning but it wasn't! As I type it's still going and I'm so afraid that it's not going to go away, I've ruined my ears for life just trying to hold of on going to the doctor to save a few hundred dollars. Needless to say, I'm terrified to take more of ANY THING (especially after noticing that the Aleve ALSO has aspirin) and am now writhing in agony with a ringing in my ears.

I know someone out there somewhere knows a doctor that can at least tell me if this goes away or not. Frank's so cute, he's trying to get me to stop worrying by saying that medication overdoses don't take away hearing but he's not a doctor so it's not helping me any. I know I'm probably overreacting and by tonight I'll be laughing about it, but if someone could please confirm that for me I'd greatly appreciate it!! :'( And if you can offer any suggestions about alternative pain relief until Friday that would also be wonderful.

Cross posting like crazy.
