Don't do State. Children's Play is way more worth it and you will definately want to be able to interview and talk to colleges at theatre fest. I hardly ever hear good things about the state productions so far as the experience goes. Its senior year and you want to bond and have your final moments with your own school and the friends you've made, if you'd've done chorus line I'd say go ahead, but when it comes to doing les mis...unless you really like a character in that show, and you just really wanna be in that particular show, just stick to HF. Its a pain to travel down there as well.
If you take anything out of what I just wrote, take the interview thing...seriously, I got 15 callbacks at theatre fest, and plenty of others got just as many if not more, its a great opportunity that far surpasses performing in the state production. If you get called back to alot of schools and you have to perform, you won't get as much time to talk to all of your schools. *shrug* Theatre fest was an awesome thing for me, so y'know, I'm pushing that whole interviewing process.
