Does he know how lucky he is to have you? Do you remember the day (I think it was registration?) that we were talking about him, and a fight or something and you said he had done something and I asked what and you wouldn't tell me cause you told me I would never look at him the same way again? I do, and that made a huge impression on me about you. You defend the honor and respectability of this guy, who you think is an ignorant asshole and treats your mother like shit. You are so amazing and so much stronger than you think you are.

If nothing else, if "it'll be goodbye married life," at least know that they cared enough about their children to bear with each other long enough to see you guys out. A family that sticks together as long as they can has a certain strength to it, it may not be love, but there is another element, something that is just like, pure caring, that makes things worth it. Take it from me, I'd say I'm an expert on divorced families (my parents split and both got with other people who had divorced once before), your parentss still being together is MUCH better than them not being together, if nothing else, simply for the sake of time management. That sounds odd, I know, but with theatre and just, junior year in general, weekends are important, and split families equal no weekends for the kids.
If you ask me, no one is really born into a "mildy not insane family" There are families that I know that are really really happy, but its usually BECAUSE they are really insane that they get along so well.
