Good-bye to Summer

Going through the motions has definitely gotten me ready to part with the kids next week. Up until this week, I was kind of dreading the departure of summer and the start of school. It’s been a good summer having them around. I love the carefree days this last month has delivered. But this week, we’ve gone shopping for clothes (one more trip needed), school supplies, and today was the much dreaded backpack search. Erin is V.E.R.Y. fussy when it comes to her backpack. Of course, she didn’t find one at the two stores we went to. But we’re headed to the mall tonight for the last clothes shopping outing (I hope.) We’ll look there. And yesterday was the first PTO meeting. When I walked into the school, it felt like I was just there yesterday. I can only imagine how the kids feel. ;-)

So, looking around the house at the bags of new clothes and school supplies (Ahhh. . .nothing like brand new notebooks and folders to get my blood flowing and I won’t even tell you what those multi-colored highlighters do to me,) I’ve decided, I’m ready. Ready for the start of school. Mostly because Darlene and I have, for the most part, taken a hiatus from our co-writing and MOLLY related business. It was just too difficult to get quality time together with summer kids’ stuff. We each worked on our separate projects, which was great because we contninued to write (although I’m quite sure she accomplished more than I.) But with the kids going back to school, we can carve out more time to spend together.

So, to school starting next week. . . I say, bring it on!

To getting back to business with Darl. . .I say, CAN NOT wait!
