Top 10 Songs - 2010

Jan 02, 2011 22:52

Based on my list last year and Trent's Annual List (not yet posted) I've decided to post what are my Top 10 Songs of 2010

#10) Taio Cruz - Dynamite

Oh man, this song is great. I would get so excited when it came on the radio and would car dance to it every single time. This has definitely been a solid year for Taio Cruz - between Dynamite and Break Your Heart, Taio has really made a name for himself and I am sure this is not the end. I can only hope for more catchy hits in 2011 from Mr. Cruz!

#9) California Gurls - Katy Perry

This song was one that was very important to me this year as I made my move to Los Angeles. When I first heard this song, I was sure it was going to be a hit. It was very cool to hear Katy sing this song live from the front row multiple times at the MMVAs this year and I will always remember that when I hear it.

#8) Your Man - Down With Webster

This song unfortunately flew under the radio this year. While it did get a heap of airplay in Toronto, I doubt it got play anywhere else due to the fact that DWW is Canadian. This song is such a great summer song and I have very fond memories of it. I also got to listen to this one live several times at the MMVAs and that was very neat. It is so great to see a band with so many members!

#7) Tik Tok - Ke$ha

This song is one from the earlier months in the year that left an impact all through 2010. This song established Ke$ha as an artist and was her first ever hit song, followed by Your Love Is My Drug, Take It Off, and We R Who We R. I also had the pleasure of listening to her perform this song live at the MMVAs as well and I've got to say, she's a firecracker and a fascinating performer! While Ke$ha has often been made fun of due to the nature of the lyrics, this song is truly a dance anthem and I am sure Ke$ha isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

#6) Breakeven - The Script

My sister introduced me to this beautiful haunting melodic song and I have to say I'm addicted. I truly love the lyrics and the mood that comes through in this song. It did not get nearly the recognition it deserved, but that may be a good thing as the radio often kills songs by overplaying them.

#5) Just a Dream - Nelly

This song is a late comer and still rising, but man I love it. It used to be the song that would get me out of bed in the morning when I heard it on KIIS FM. The lyrics and the melody are both lovely. Nelly has been off the map for so long and it's nice to hear from him again.

#4) Like a Prayer (Glee Cast version) - Glee Cast

This song was the finale for the Madonna Glee episode and man it's fantastic. For them to take a song as famous as Madonna's and completely revamp it without changing much at all is just fantastic. Glee has really exploded and the cast has broken many music records this year. I am so excited to hear what songs they will be releasing this year.

#3) Live Like We're Dying - Kris Allen

This is the first real single we've heard from Idol Winner Kris Allen and I have to say, it was worth the wait! This song is truly fantastic. The melody is extremely catchy and I absolutely love it. Not to mention it has the whole inspirational thing going on, which really resonates well with me. I truly am a huge fan of this song and I'm happy for it to have my #3 place.

#2) Mine - Taylor Swift

This year, my love for Taylor Swift has grown and grown. I had the pleasure of seeing her in concert for the first time this year in the summer as my graduation present and I just ADORE her. Her songwriting abilities really sets her apart from most of the other artists out there and I love her vulnerability as a performer. She is also so genuine and grateful for everything she has and she's truly an excellent role model. Her album Speak Now was released in November and I love so many of the songs on that album. I wish I could fit Long Live on here as well. I hope Miss Swift finds much success in 2011.

#1) Hey, Soul Sister - Train

This song got soo gypped on many of the charts I read regarding top songs of 2010 which is so shocking considering it's mine. Train has truly made a wonderful comeback with this song and I love the innocence of the song. It's so nice to hear such fun, clean music with a nice harmony and some great lyrics and Train nailed it. It was great to hear them sing on many awards shows this year and this song is certainly a crowd-pleaser. Also, Glee did a great rendition of it. I hope Train will be back for a while and we get to hear some more great songs from them!

Honourable Mention: Need You Now - Lady Antebellum, Taio Cruz - Break Your Heart and Bad Romance - Lady Gaga

I hope to have a top movies list coming soon!
