I'm not sure about this fandom, but in my other one it seems to slow down alot during the summer because people are out and about or on vacation. Maybe it is just the timing and things will pick back up once the sun doesn't shine quite as long.
i had the darndest time coming up with a plot for my group... and had heard vague rumors that this was the case for others as well... however i actually kind of LIKE that part because it's a mental exercise (and i can feel the burn!)
i think it's likely due to either lack of involving activities leading up to posting dates.... such as word-wars/reminders/squee/pic-spam/check-ins (out of sight out of mind/motivation issues)
or
it's that the claiming happened before big-bang season but the posting is happening DURING.... i think that many writers are 'feeling the burn' from that particular exercise as well and it may be taking up significant portions of brain matter
all speculation of course... i still love the idea... but a lot of the fun was looking forward to seeing the different ways it could come out... and that only works if multiple posts are made (that being said... mine's not done yet so..... i really can't complain, only be thankful i got a later posting group!)
also... i can't spell this late in the evening *headdesk* *
The lack of posting made me sad. I thought that there was enough time, since Big Bang posting doesn't start until ~September (if I remember right) and Trek Reverse posting just ended last week. And the people involved in Big Bang still have plenty of time.
My reason for having a small fic rather than the larger one I'd planned was because I kind of put it off, not because I was busy shooting off two fics for TR (even though I was, actually, doing so).
I would suggest waiting a few days, and maybe send reminders to every NOW regardless of posting date (especially if they were supposed to but didn't). And then send off reminders again when it gets closer to each person's posting date.
I was so interested in seeing how this would turn out, too. Good luck!
(And yes, I do still plan on turning in my July 20th fic if this is still continuing).
Yeah, I figured it would be okay since it doesn't take up the whole Big Bang season...
The thing that's baffling me is that we have been doing individual reminders close to posting dates, but we get no response, followed (mostly) by no posting. We'd be fine with extending dates or letting people drop the challenge, but we'd just like to know either way. I think we'll try your idea of a general batch reminder, though.
Regardless, we'll continue no matter what, so please do post! The point of the challenge is ultimately to generate more awesome fic for everyone! So even if it doesn't work out how we imagined, as long as some people were inspired and wrote fic, I consider that a win.
Since mine's an art fill, I probably didn't have the same problems as other people who were doing fic fills. It was challenging to come up with an idea that incorporate all the prompts, but I think most people come into this knowing that it isn't gonna be easy.
Either way, I still plan to post on my posting date. 8D
Sorry, I forgot to let my co-mod know you messaged me about that! I'm very glad you're still going for it - I didn't quite catch that from your PM.
We do want this to be a laid-back challenge despite the challenging elements, so there's no rush. Just post when you feel good about what you have! And your suggestions are definitely on the table.

I think we may be leaning more towards extending time for all. Thanks for the feed back!

I think were going to give an over all time extension and more warning for the later folks.
Thanks for your ideas and I glad you could make it work! :D
