Happy Wednesday!
I'm on the way back from Austria to the USA, and then promptly going on vacation--I cannot wait! But the meetings there went well, and everyone seems quite sure that we will get Austria on board for the project. Let's hope so.
I stayed with friends in the 6th district rather than in a hotel
The view from my window
The view from the front door
The wonderful cafe around the corner
A closeup
The original Theater an der Wien by the Naschmarkt
A lovely building
In the Naschmarkt, where they sell all sorts of fresh fruits and vegetables and foods. There are quite a few wonderful cafes that have opened up there
We had lunch at this one
We then ment up to Mariahilferstrasse on these steps. The restaurant at the bottom has deliciouss food!
We strolled through the Museum Quarter
By the statue of Maria Theresa in front of the museums
Lots of courtyards here
Another view of the arch--it started to rain
One of the entrances to the Hofburg
A street in the 1st district, the ooldest part of Vienna
Am Graben
Stephansplatz
And back via the Hofburg when the rain died down
Palmenhaus where we had drinks
And later we drove out to Grinzing in the outskirts for dinner. The heurigen mnake their own wine and serve dinner outdoors, it's a really classic Vienna thing to do. The views are lovely, and we were lucky it stopped raining
But we did get the last rainbow!
Off for vacation, so see you in 10 days!
