1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before? With sethrenn, drove a very large truck containing all our worldly goods across the midwestern and Southwestern states into Southern California.

2. Did you keep your New Year resolutions, and will you make more for next year? Yes! John resolved to stop saying "I'm like" for "I said something like" or "I was thinking"... and he did it, and yes, this year we are going to go back on our low-starch diet.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Not this year.

4. Did anyone close to you die? Not this year, thank God. I think the number of deaths last year covered it for the next few.

5. What countries did you visit? Canada

6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004? A driver's license, and an absence of boobs.

7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Wed, Sep 22 at 7:42 pm.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? See #1.

9. What was your biggest failure? Our attempt to communicate with our birth father.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? No more than usual.

11. What was the best thing you bought? The complete Paradise and Legend of the Spirit Mirror on DVD.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Gavin Newsom, and the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts. On a more personal level, our maternal family, who accepted our gayitude with open hearts, the one family member to whom we came out fully as multiple, and the dear friends who helped us with the monumental task of packing our worldly goods.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Shrub, as always. And his orchestra. The voters that put that idiotic megalomaniac back into office. The people responsible for the Abu Ghraib thing. Our birth father. Various personal acquaintances, most of whom we are fortunately no longer in touch with.

14.Where did most of your money go? Taxes, bills and moving.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Trying to de-elect Bush. Fools that we were, we really thought it was possible.

16. What song will always remind you of 2004? Neil Young's "Be The Rain" and "Gateway of Love". The theme from Paradise.

17. Compared to this time last year, you are:
i. happier or sadder? Happier
ii. thinner or fatter? Probably about the same
iii. richer or poorer? Materially poorer, spiritually richer

18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Drugs

19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Whining

20. How did you spend Christmas? With sethrenn's family, pretending to be a straight singlet and female to boot. Gee. Admire our restraint.

20a. How will you be spending New Years? With sethrenn at home, making pumpkin pie, watchin' Paradise, and the ball drop at Times Square (Is it true Dick Clark lost his voice? Tune in and find out!) Edit: Clark had a stroke and while expected to recover, said he would stay at home and not do the Times Square ball drop this year. And snuggling the kitty, of course.

sethrenn says: "I think Dick Clark is actually 500 years old and lives by sucking other people's life force out like Second Uncle Yin Zhong in Paradise"

Edit: I can think of no one worse than Regis Philbin to take over the ball drop, and his performance last night proved it. By far the most delicious moment of the evening had to be the Drag Queen Drop from Key West, Florida. -- Andy

And hey, what happened to the phone question?

21. Who did you spend the most time on the phone with? The guy who's housesitting for us till we get both houses sold in Indiana.

21a. What have you learned about yourself in 2004? The jury's still out on that.

22. Did you fall in love in 2004? No, we were already in love :)

23. How many one-night stands? None

24. What was your favorite TV program? Paradise, with Legend of the Spirit Mirror a close second (it had a more contrived plot [All wuxia have contrived plots!! -- Imoreh] and less satisfying resolution, plus appalling plotholes and even more appalling hairstyles).

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? We hate everybody just about the same.

26. What was the best book you read? Hartley's The Go-Between. My God.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Neil Y.... oh, wait a minute, you mean new discovery. No, now, it just says discovery, so let's see.. Neil Young's "Gateway of Love." And the Space Show did a wonderful transmission of altogether not-heard-nearly-enough Greek space music called "Aegean Rhapsody" for the Olympics.

28. What did you want and get? sethrenn. Out of Indiana. A Tascam mixer.

29. What did you want and not get? A driver's license

30. What was your favorite film of this year? Inasmuch as Paradise was a television series, I'd have to say Troy, cause it's the only new one we saw.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? On our birthday, we were 47, and we were besieged with well-wishing visitors wanting to take us out for coffee, or come over and repair our vacuum cleaner and re-organise our toolboxes, all with the best of intentions but fairly exhausting and leaving us little time to celebrate in our own fashion. Next year we'll celebrate our birthday on a different day.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Selling our houses

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004? Functional but cute

34. What kept you sane? sethrenn

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Lu Xing Yu.

36. What political issue stirred you the most? The list is endless.

37. Who did you miss? Old friends.

38. Who was the best new person you met? Kai's boss from the bookstore.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004: There is just no pleasing some people. They're going to have the ideas that they have about you and whether they are right or wrong or in some cases downright DELUSIONAL, there is nothing whatsoever that can be done to change their minds. You just have to let them think what they will, and hope for the best in the future.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
It's probably a medley consisting of the theme from Paradise, the Oscar Meyer song, and Neil Young's "White Line/River of Pride":

And I'm rolling down the open road
Where my true love she lies awaitin'
Right now I'm thinking 'bout the things that I know
And the daylight will soon be breakin'.

holiday, everyday, sethrenn, whatsisface, quiz or poll
