four dead

Today I find myself at Kent State University in Ohio, a place that will forever be marked by what happened there on this date in 1970. It was another time of deep division in the United States and we cannot let ourselves forget the series of events that led the National Guard to fire on student protesters with live ammunition. Four young people were killed and several others were wounded. The nation as a whole was forced to confront the tragic aftermath of escalating violence.

Several years ago, my newsmagazine program Dan Rather Reports went to Kent State to tell the story through the eyes of someone who was there. We are sharing it again today. I hope you will take the time to watch it, think about it, and share it with others.

(I hope this works. I have never tried to embed a video from Facebook before, I loathe Facebook and everything it stands for and the only reason you're getting it this way is that this is where Dan posted it and nowhere else. Bluejay)
