Registration Day

I have to complain about the ridiculous registration system at Hood for freshman. First of all, being freshman we have to wait until the other classes register. Ok, that's understandable and I'm fine with that. Registration starts at 8am on a Thursday. How many people have classes on Thursday? Probably everyone. Can you register online? No, because Hood apparently is not technologically advanced. How many class openings does Hood have for each section? (keep in mind there are usually only two sections) Oh, about 30 seats. How many freshman, about 280 something. How many freshman are trying to take the same core classes, again, about 280 something. Hmm, let's see, maybe they should add more seats to core classes!!!! Any of those 101s, damnit, make them bigger! I think people would rather be in a class of 50 then have to wait until they are sophomores to take a 100 level class.

And another thing, teachers that schedule exams on registration day have no souls. I had two today! One at 8am and one at 955am. I could not spend the night in line like half of my peer class did because when registration started, I was demonstrating proper techniques of defending oneself when someone is holding a knife at ones throat!

In conclusion, Hood: find a better way for students to register for classes. Online would help, or maybe a Friday or Saturday when not everyone has classes. Or better yet, I know being a small college, the student to teacher ratio has to be small, if so, don't admit the biggest freshman class ever and not offer more class times or openings! Also, to speed up the process, how about adding more than four assistants in the Registrar's Office???!!!! That way, there isn't a line of 280 something people that doesn't take 4 hours to go through.

All in all, I'm lucky that social sciences aren't extremely popular at Hood, or maybe I'm the only one that actually likes to listen to History and the American Government. Because, for some reason, I was able to get all my classes except for Biology of Cancer, which I am first on the waitlist for. Oh, and I never again will take an 8 o'clock class. This I am sure of.
