MiL: I wish that school would spend less money on sports teams and more on a cafeteria.
Me: Um, I don't. I don't think the school needs one, I think it's better for kids to brown bag it.
MiL: Well, I just like the idea of kids being able to have a hot meal for lunch.
Me: The kids have access to a small kitchen. They can have hot food if they want to.
MiL: Yeah, but it's just better if they had a hot lunch made for them.
Me: Um, I'd venture a guess that no, it's healthier to be able to brown bag.
MiL: Well, I guess I want it because when I was going to school, for a lot of kids if they didn't get a hot meal at school they didn't get one at all.
Me:...... erm, the chances of that happeneing at this very expensive private school that we most certainly could not afford if Ari did not work there are pretty much nil.
MiL: Well, just FEELS like it would be better if they got a hot lunch.
One of these days I will learn not to argue with my MiL about her feelings with logic. It's just really not going to do much. For either of us.
