My mother told me years ago patience is its own reward...that and good things come to those who wait (Of course my brother was quick to point out that good things come faster to those who go get them, but that's another story)
At any rate, yesterday my mother was proven right. :-)
I wanted fresh strawberries. Plan was to buy some on my way home. I had two quarts I'd gotten on Monday. Those were already gone because, well, I love strawberries. I only really eat them this time of year because they are ready locally and they are sooooo good.
Anyway, I stop, and they are out of them at the stand for the moment. Little girl working the places tells me her older sister will be back in fifteen minutes or so if I cared to wait. For fresh, just picked berries, yeah, I'll wait.
Now, not only did I get strawberries, I got a discount for being nice enough to wait and not being pissy while I did it. How's that for win/win. Wheeee. So instead of the two or three quarts I thought I could get with the money I had on me, I came home with five. Mind you, I gave one away to a friend, and three will be given to my sister on Saturday, so not like I'll eat them all. I could, mind you, I really could. Easily.
I'll have to tell mom she was right...in this case, patience was definitely rewarded.
